Zermatt, 1620m above sea level, lies at the foot of the mighty Matterhorn, one of the most famous mountains in the world. Its glamorous appearance and unique shape, standing in dignified solitude in the middle of a crest of the highest mountains in the Alps, has always attracted people from all over the world. But it's not only the Matterhorn giving Zermatt its appeal. The magnificent landscape and the vast variety of mountain tops surrounding Zermatt, like the Monte Rosa, Dent Blanche, Weisshorn etc. make it the true tourist destination known worldwide. The possibilities for climbing, hiking and skiing are enormous.
Zermatt is car-free. The only means of transportation are electric cars, horse sleighs and carriages.
To Zermatt by train: The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn which links Zermatt to the international Railway Systems, brings you from Visp and Brig directly to the heart of Zermatt.
To Zermatt by car: In Täsch begins the car-free zone. You have 2 options:
- You park your car in the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch and take the train to Zermatt. The train station is in the heart of Zermatt and within walking distance from the Chalet Aeschhorn (5min).
- You can get a taxi transport from Täsch to Zermatt. The taxi will bring your to the north entrance of the village. From there you will have to hire another electric taxi to get to our Chalet.
